Oxyresveratrol Normalized Body Weight Gain and Feed Efficiency of Mice Fed High‐Fat Diet

Many polyphenols can impact the biological system. For example, stilbenoid such as resveratrol has been extensively studied and known to improve metabolic health. Through its influences on Sirtuin 1, resveratrol slows aging and attenuates a number of metabolic derangements. Despite sharing similar structure, relatively little is known about oxyresveratrol (OXY). There is evidence that OXY possesses anti‐inflammatory as well as anti‐oxidative properties. We recently demonstrated OXY, at doses that did not induce cytotoxicity, to possess anti‐adipogenic action in 3T3‐L1 cells by inhibiting differentiation through inducing cell cycle arrest. In the present study, the effect of OXY supplementation on high‐fat diet fed mice was examined. C57bl/6 mice were randomly assigned to control (5% fat by weight, LF), high‐fat (30%, HF) and high‐fat supplemented with 0.25% and 0.5% OXY (OXY1 and OXY2, respectively) diet group.
