With the growing concern this country over the increase crime, particularly among young people, professionals a wide variety of disciplines are seeking more effective means of treat ing the problem. There appears to be particular emphasis placed on the two ends of delinquency, so to speak ? prevention and control or treatment?while legal education focuses on what comes in between, that is, the judicial proceeding. It is sug gested here that the parent-child relationship is crucial at all of these points and the purpose of this paper will be to examine the legal implications of this relationship.
