TL;DRAbstract

The heterogeneity of the scientific and public discourses imposes constraints on science communication. This is shown, for instance, by the inherent semantic instability in translations from expert to vernacular languages, which ultimately is a consequence of the incommensurability of the underlying social representations. However, ecological research could stimulate “resonance” to environmental problems in social systems.
