Some Observations on a methid for Rapid Determination of Iodine-131 in Milk# on the Possibility of Increasing its Sensitivity# and on its Use in Series in Case of a Nuclear Accident; qUELQUES OBSERVATIONS SUR UNE METHODE DE DOSAGE IMMEDIAT DE L'IODE 131 DANS LE LAIT, SUR LA POSSIBILITE D'EN AUGMENTER LA SENSIBILITE, ET SUR SON EXPLOITATION EN SERIE EN CAS D'ACCIDENT NUCLEAIRE
TL;DRAbstract
ABS>The method set forth by Murthy (adsorption of iodine 131 in milk on anionic resin) is resumed with a view to applying it systematically in case of a nuclear accident. By utilizing two scintillation detectors set up in parallel and a 512 channels spectrometer, its sensitivity can be raised to 20 picocuries of iodine 131 per liter of milk for a total operating duration of two hours (and to 5 picocuries for an 11 hours total operating duration).
