Communication Determinants of College Success: An Exploratory Investigation.

TL;DRAbstract

To examine the developmental process of communication competence and the resulting relationship between competence and college success, a longitudinal study of_college students was undertaken. In this study, pertinent background factors and measures of communication skills were collected on the same population over the course of a student's college career. Although this longitudinal study is only partially complete, with two of_the four years of data having been collected, some indications are already apparent. Results have indicated that, at the end of the first year, high school communication experiences seem to_be intricately linked to grade point average (GPA), interaction_involvement, communication apprehension, and most importantly, communication competence.
