TL;DRAbstract

This chapter gives a brief account of civil ATC radar in Britain, France, Germany and the USA. All four countries have high-density air traffic, and their ATC authorities operate comprehensive primary and secondary radar facilities. Radar is continuously evolving, and the systems described here are no exception. Nevertheless, our account should give the reader an overall view of current equipment and trends. To save space and avoid repetition, we focus on somewhat different aspects of ATC radar in each country.
