TL;DRAbstract

This is a study thesis about the current cultural life in the town of Lund, Sweden. The people living in Lund are often described as a highly cultural active people. Meanwhile, in 2009 Lund filed to become the European Capital of Culture in 2014, lost the desirable title against Umea. Afterwards there has been criticism on the investments in the project. Lund as the European Capital of Culture seems to many as a waste since Lund has a great lack of cultural institutions and other activities. Many believe that the culture of Lund is non-existent. So, what is correct? Is Lund a town full of culture or is the culture dead? I explore if the visions on the political levels meets practice that happens in the cultural perform of Lund residents. The purpose of this paper is to reflect the various cultural actor’s views on cultural life in Lund. Searching for a conclusion about if the vision meets reality. My hypothesis is an existing discrepancy between vision and reality of the cult
