Ausnahmepianist fettgeschreckt - inbleich! Deutsche, niederländische und schwedische Präfixiode im Spannungsfeld von Genealogia, Kreativität und Norm
TL;DRAbstract
The present article investigates so-called prefixoids in German, Dutch and Swedish from a mainly qualitative perspective. Prefixoids are bound first members in compounds which are formally identical to free parent morphs but tend to be distinguished from the latter by, amongst other things, a high degree of productivity and a special delexicalized meaning. We review the literature on prefixoids from a synchronic and diachronic point of view and compare prototypical tendencies in the prefixoid inventories of the three languages in question, demonstrating the status of prefixoids between linguistic creativity on the one hand and determination by language-specific usage on the other. Finally, we offer suggestions for future research, especially with regard to quantitative and diachronic issues.
