TL;DRAbstract

ConclusionVery low levels of MBL were detected in a significantly higher number of BD patients compared to HC, ROU and RA. This observation needs to be confirmed with genetic analysis as low MBL levels are shown to correlate with MBL gene mutations.These results suggest that MBL deficiency might contribute to the pathogenesis of BD by impairing “innate” immune responses against microorganisms.
