A study of agricultural change in East Sussex (1990-2000), with particular referenec to the impact of agri-environmental schemes on the farming landscape
TL;DRAbstract
This study aimed to examine and evaluate the changes seen visually in the East Sussex farming landscape. It undertook to discuss the changes seen over a ten year period through the use of Agricultural Census Data and examine, through carefully chosen indicators, the possible differences in the agri-scape. Spatial changes were also considered in relation to the different sub-regions of the area in order to understand the variety of landscape changes throughout the locale. It also attempted to see if it was possible to create a single index of change. With these changes in mind the study discussed the recent emergence of agri-environmental schemes and attempted to correlate their uptake in relation to the already apparent changes in the farming landscapes. It considered the schemes separately in order discover their distribution and identify where, if at all, they are concentrating or dispersing the agri-scape changes.
