This work brings an analysis on literature in two stages. In the first one, that takes the direction 'society-literature', the statute of this last one is approached -with its character of universality front modernity, with its character of specify things -and also the paper of the intellectual, according to vision of Jean-Paul Sartre, relating it with the problematic derivative from the popularization of the culture by television (mass culture), base-in mainly in homo videns of Giovanni Sartori, and collating it with the critical paper of the literary review in this new context, according to shrewd reflections of Alfonso Berardinelli. In a second stage, that takes the direction 'literature-society', it is approached the literature property, having aimed at establishing this concept of Roman Jakobson as an operational concept for the literary studies, and also the fiction property, salient here as concept essential to understand the reading of literature as multiple and ample, creative
