Spent catalyst has 47 % - w of alumina in its composition that can be used as raw material for manufacturing aluminium hydroxide. Aluminium hydroxide is widely used as one of active ingredient in ulcer drug and made from bauxite which is a non-renewable resources. The composition of alumina in spent catalyst is almost equal to bauxite,which means it can be used as a substitute for producing aluminium hydroxide. Aluminium hydroxide is produced by extraction using 20 % NaOH with ratio of spent catalyst to NaOH 1 : 5 (b/v). It is then followed by precipitation using CO2. Extraction is held for 2 hours and the extract will be precipitated for 4 hours. The effects of input position and flow rate of CO2 to amount of aluminium hydroxide will be observed. The research showed that input position inside the tube and flow rate of CO2 is 4,040 L / minute will give the best yield, which is 17 % - w. Precipitation with stirring will not increase the amount of aluminium hydroxide. Keywords
