Environmental care: the Bahá'í experience

TL;DRAbstract

As a community dedicated to "carrying forward an ever advancing civilization" that will last for at least a thousand years, the Bahá'í community clearly has a commitment to development that is sustainable. The strength of that commitment is illustrated by the following statement which links environmental care to the core of the individual's faith: "The Bahá'í commitment to the environment is fundamental to our Faith." More importantly the strength of the Bahá'í commitment to the environment is illustrated by the Bahá'í approach to establishing "a more moderate balance between material development and the requirements of the natural world" , as reflected in its initiatives relating to environmental management and care.
