TL;DRAbstract

This retrospective study shows the prevalence and distribution of equine tumours observed during a 13 year periodat autopsy at the « Institut de Pathologie du Cheval », in Basse-Normandie, France. Prevalence of neoplasia is4,69% for the total reference population or 8,84% for horses older than one year. 120 horses of mean age 14,7years showed one or more tumours. Among them, 14 showed 2 different neoplastic types. In consequence, 134tumours have been analysed. They represented 18 different types of tumours wich are detailed by the author andcompleted with literature data. The more frequent tumours were asymptomatic. They were thyroid adenomas (34cases), lipomas (30 cases) and cholesteatomas (29 cases). The other encountered tumours were, in decreasingorder, lymphosarcomas, melanomas, pituitary adenomas, hemangiosarcomas, mesotheliomas, granulosa celltumours, renal carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, a cutaneous papilloma, an ethmoid hematoma, a gastricleiomyosarcoma, a meningioma, a
