Language Production Deficits in Learning Disabled Adolescents.

TL;DRAbstract

Evaluated were language production deficits, in 32 gi learninAisabled (LD) adolescents. Ss were administered a Eattery of subtests containing tasks sensitive to language, production difficulties in cognition, convergent and divergent production of semantic units, word retrieval, and retrieval of syntactic structures. Results indicated that speech chara&teristics of LD Ss were close to normal except that phrase length was short and the simple declarative grammatical form was disproportionately usecl.. Other findings showed thatLD Ss were significantly deficient (.1n, she ability to retrieve 'accurate verbal opposites, to label pictor* presentations-, to name f ods, to formulate sentences, and to d ne words.
