Integrated computer aided design simulation and manufacture

Faek Diko-1989-01-01-Arrow@dit (Dublin Institute of Technology)

TL;DRAbstract

Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided\nManufacture (CAM) have been investigated and developed\nsince twenty years as standalone systems. A large\nnumber of very powerful but independent packages have\nbeen developed for Computer Aided Design,Aanlysis and\nManufacture. However, in most cases these packages have\npoor facility for communicating with other packages.\n\nRecently attempts have been made to develop\nintegrated CAD/CAM systems and many software companies\nare actively engaged in this field of engineering.\n\nIn the present work an integrated system for\nComputer Aided Design, Analysis and Manufacture has been\ndeveloped incorporating AutoCAD Draughting package,\nFinite Element Analysis software and NC machining\nsoftware. In this system, the draughting and NC\nmachining software are resident m a PC and the Finite\nElement and Mesh Generation programs are resident m the\nmainframe computer. Appropriate softwares have also been\ndeveloped for effective communication be
