TL;DRAbstract

Our retrospective study is about 43 cases of lung hydatid cyst collected at the department of general surgery in Mohammed V hospital of El Jadida on a period going from January 1997 to December 2001. The mean age of our patients has been 23,2 years, of which 58% have age between 10 and 30 years with a light masculine predominance. 60% belong to rural environment where contact with the dog and the herbivore is constant. In 7% of the cases, the discovery was fortuitous. Elsewhere, the respiratory symptomatology was revealing in 93% of the cases, the most often done of thoracic pain (30,2%) and cough (21,9%). On a total of 46 cysts, 93% were single, and 58,7% were safe. The right localization was predominant in 55%, with a major affection of the right and left lower lobes in respectively 32,5% and 30%.
