TL;DRAbstract

This thesis analyzes the characteristics of an empty category in possessive structures in Brazilian Portuguese, using the context of DPs with relatonal nouns, i.e., nouns that select other nouns as arguments and express a farnily or friendship relationship. The analysis in this thesis is based on the Principies and Parameters theory of Chornsky (1981Chornsky ( , 1986) ) in its more current version, known as the Minimalist Program (Chornsky 1995).
