Mobilidade de arsenio e metais pesados em solos do Vale do Ribeira, Iporanga, S.P.

The purpose of this study was to access the relative mobility of As, Cr, Cu, Pb and Zn in soils of the Piririca Belt, Ribeira Valley, Southeastern Brazil. Arsenic and heavy metal-rich soils occur in this area and, since the metal contents in these soils increase with depth, they may originate from chemical weathering of underneath meta-sedimentary and basic subvolcanic rocks which host gold-sulfide vein zones. Soils were sampled at depths of 0-30 cm along two cross transects in mineralized zones. Those samples were used for pH (CaCl 2 ) and organic carbon determinations.
