TL;DRAbstract

A series of autoclave tests was completed to evaluate the effectiveness of a flushing technique for removal of contaminants from a simulated nuclear steam generator tube-tubesheet crevice. All testing was performed using a depressurization technique under various conditions to determine the removal efficiency of caustic in open and, in one case, a packed simulated tubesheet crevice. Flushing by depressurization was found to remove substantial portions of NaOH from open and packed crevices. Additional work is required for optimizing these techniques.
