A comparison between 2D-models for masonry arch bridge assessment

TL;DRAbstract

A lot of different tools are available for the assessment of masonry arch bridges. Due to the complex behaviour of the arches many suppositions have been made for the different models. Until now there is not yet a generally accepted method for assessment. This study covers a comparison of some 2D assessment tools. Three models are compared based on a case study: Ring, Archie-M and an elasto-plastic model. It is concluded that every model has advantages and disadvantages. Thus it cannot be stated which model should be preferred.
