Liquid-helium-cooled cryopanels, shielded by liquid-nitrogen-cooled chevrons, do the pumping. The MX facility will include a structure to house the MX machine and its attendant diagnostics and power supplies, a cryogenic refrigeration system, and an external vacuum pumping system. Design of the facility requires a study of structural requirements, heat load, and source gas load.
