Ma i�o is one of the spoken literatures in Sahu community at the West Halmahera regency, North Maluku Province that has been abandoned by society. Ma i�o oral literature is a type of traditional vocal art is sung by a performer of Ma i'o and performed in the tradition of Sasadu ritual in Sahu Community. This study aims to reveal the poetic of spoken literature as seen from Ma i'o narrator, performance, society, and the text. The object of this study is that spoken poetry of Ma i'o, performance, Sasadu ritual obtained through direct recording and rooted in observation and interviews. Issues will be discussed in this study, is a condition of society as the owner of Sahu spoken literature, text creation process of Ma i'o, the performance of Ma i�o, characteristics of Ma i�o text consisting of the elements in the text, and relationship of Ma i�o performer, text, real-world and listeners, and the formula of the ma i'o text in Sasadu traditional ritual.
