TL;DRAbstract
Spontaneous fluctuation of endocrine function is frequently observed during the course of autoimmune endocrine diseases. However, little is known concerning the exact aggravating factors. Recently, it has been found that disease is aggravated after pregnancy (1) and after attack of allergic rhinitis (2) a typical type I allergy, in autoimmune thyroid diseases. Pregnancy has been described as a successful allograft of foreign tissue, and physiological immunological changes (3) influence remarkably the disease course. Many autoimmune diseases occur more commonly in women, often during the childbearing age, and thus, it is very important to elucidate the mechanisms of postpartum onset or aggravation of autoimmune endocrine diseases.
