TL;DRAbstract
Adaptive array signal processing techniques are often proposed for application to airborne wide area surveillance and track radars, to suppress clutter returns and jamming, while enhancing the detection of airborne targets. To improve performance over classical adaptive algorithms under severly nonhomogeneous interference conditions, canceller based signal processors are often implemented. One highly successful canceller based technique, selected for comparative analysis in this dissertation, is referred to as Displaced Phase Center Aperture. Alternatively, transform domain localized adaptive algorithms also provide for improved performance over classical adaptive algorithms in a nonhomogeneous interference environment. This is due, in part, to the decoupling effect of the transform, effectively separating the degrees of freedom of the processor from the measurement data sample size. The Joint Domain localized-Generalized likelihood Ratio (JDL-GLR) test is the two dimensional transform
