TL;DRAbstract
Chapter 1. Introduction to Molecular Whitlock and Zimmerman developed a class of molecular hosts, popularly known as molecular tweezers, which sandwich aromatic guests by ii=ii interaction. Chapter 1 summarizes molecular tweezers of various kinds which have recently been synthesized. Chapter 2. Design and synthesis of Acid-Based Molecular Tweezers Bile acids have a rigid backbone, and the array of hydroxyl groups separated by 5-7 A provides opportunities for the attachment of binding surfaces such as two extended chromophoric units.
