Indonesia has a very abundant natural wealth, large number of flora which are widely used as herbal medicines. Currently, public awareness for the use of medicinal plants in addressing health issues is increasing. One was the use of ginger as an anti-diarrheal by Indonesian people to overcome diarrhea.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ginger rhizome extract on the contraction of isolated rat ileum which previously contracted by acetylcholine administration.Isolated rat ileum was used as the sample. It was prepared in the media tirode physicological solution at 37C. organ bath was used to measured the contractions of the sample. It was linked to the power transducer which connected to the recorder in order to convert records into digital data.The result was shown that administration of acetylcholine enhance rat ileum contractions.
