TL;DRAbstract

The determination of accurate molecular constants from infrared and microwave spectra presents serious problems. Methods including the application of perturbation theory, diagonalization techniques, and the method of least squares will be discussed. Particular emphasis will be placed on the necessity of obtaining constants compatible with theory. Examples involving non-linear triatomic molecules including $O_{3}, H_{2}O$, and $SO_{2}$ will be given.
