Kakinada Bay which has a total spread of \n146 sq.km. area has diverse moUuscan resources, \nespecially bivalves and gastropods. Several \nworkers have studied in detail, the molluscan \nresources of the Bay and their fishery characteristics. \nThe Bay also harbuors a population of resident \npearl oyster, Pinctada chemnitzii towards \nits eastern side near Hope Island. But Pinctada \nfucata is an exogenous species as far as Kakinada \nBay is concerned.
