TL;DRAbstract

An automated knowledge acquisition system is being developed to elicit knowledge from experts during an interactive dialogue. ARK, for Acquiring and Reasoning about Knowledge, allows users to specify several types of propositional relationships and indicate the uncertainty associated with the truth of these propositions. Inconsistencies are identified dynamically through an assumption-based truth maintenance component. ARK's interactive dialogue also refines knowledge by identifying additional agents or conditions which affect objects.
