STRF: a signal processing primer
TL;DRAbstract
A one-pager describing the signal processing workflow of Shamma et al.'s STRF model. The STRF (spectro-temporal modulation fields) model is a computational simulation of the signal processing done by sensory neurons of the primary auditory cortex by mammals. It is based on in-vivo physiological measurement in ferrets, and has been applied to model human's perception of musical timbre. This tutorial targets signal processing people with little to no background in computational neuroscience (e.g. Music Information Retrieval researchers).
