Avaliação da composição corporal em crianças com asma persistente leve, moderada e grave

Introduction: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of high prevalence and affecting, especially, children with various clinical manifestations. The prevalence in Brazilian children and adolescents is high, around 20%. In Brazil, as well as in other developing countries, there was an increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity. Several studies aimed at determining the relationship between obesity and asthma, because there was an increase in the prevalence of both, in the same period. It is believed that nutritional status could represent a risk of developing asthma. Objective: To examine that, obesity is associated with the onset of asthma, and what the relationship between the prevalence of both diseases. And to evaluate the body composition of children from 5-10 years with persistent asthma, mild, moderate or severe under outpatient monitoring.
