Wound and Folded Single-Sheet Fuel Elements (Final Technical Report to the United States Atomic Energy Commission for the Period July 1, 1960 through June 30, 1961)

TL;DRAbstract

Model nuclear reactor fuel subassemblies have been produced from single clad fuel plates rather than from many individual fuel tubes, plates or pins. The coolant channel spacings of the models are main tained by projections rising from non-fuel areas dispersed throughout the core region.A preliminary cost study indicated that subassemblies produced from a single fuel element generally have a cost advantage over those produced from numbers of pins, plates or tubes.
