TL;DRAbstract

An ‘intelligence-led’ approach to policing is now well established as a key element of modern accountable police work. Broadly, intelligence-led policing involves a process for enhancing law enforcement effectiveness and has been defined by Ratcliffe (2008) as: a business model and managerial philosophy where data analysis and crime intelligence are pivotal to an objective, decision-making framework that facilitates crime and problem reduction, disruption and prevention through strategic management and effective enforcement strategies that target prolific and serious offenders.
