TL;DRAbstract
Common monkfish. Usually \naround 200 mm in total \nlength. Has walking anal fins. \nOcgocephalidae, probable \ngenus either Dibranchus or \nHalieutichthys. The \nfundamental shape is that of \nDibranchus, but I cannot see \nthe details necessary in this \nlow-res image. The close \nresemblance to Dibranchus \nwould suggest this is the \ncorrect genus, if so the \nspecies found commonly in \nthe Gulf of Guinea from 45- \n1300 m depth is Dibranchus \natlanticus. One other species \nDibranchus tremendous is \nfound in the region but \ntypically deeper than this \nsurvey (750-2300 m). The \ndetails necessary to resolve \nthe species are not visible in \nthe photograph.
