TL;DRAbstract

In this chapter, I examine the situation of Italian municipalities with regard to the international circulation of urban knowledge at the end of the 19th c. I argue that the connections such municipalities had invite to revise common ideas about the degree of development of municipal services in the so-called peripheries of the European continent, and to enlarge to transatlantic sphere of urban municipal progressism Daniel Rodgers theoretized in Atlantic Crossings to the Mediterranean.
