Estudo da correlação dos disturbios psiquiatricos menores e as desordens temporomandibulares

TL;DRAbstract

The aim of this study is to verify the correlation of minor psychiatric disturbances and TMD (Temporomandibular Disorders) in patients who were voluntarily seeking for dental treatment at the Piracicaba Dentistry Scholl-UNICAMP.We selected 200 patients of both sex, 100 with TMD and 100 without TMD (control group).The patients were first submitted to an anamnesic questionnaire that is, part of the clinical index of Treatment Center (CETASE-FOP/UNICAMP).The questionnaire includes a patient spontaneous discription and direct questions related to TMJ (temporomandibular joint), masticatory muscles and unspecific relates.After the anamnesic questionnaire the patients were submitted to the GHQ (General Health Questionnaire), that evaluates the absence of non psychotic disturbances psychiatry (minor psychiatric disturbances).The GHQ contains 60 questions, that are divided into six factors: psychic stress, death desire, distrust in own performance, sleepiness disturbances, psychosomatic disturb
