Extending Reports into Services

Kevin Kidd-2010-05-13

TL;DRAbstract

I will discuss Boston College's adoption and implementation of LogiInfo, a flexible report development environment which allows us to quickly build web-based reports from a large and diverse range of data sources. In addition to being a reporting system, LogiInfo is a full-blown web application development environment, which allows us to create new Web services that can integrate easily with other applications and Web sites. This allows us to push new library Web services directly into relevant applications and contexts which previously had minimal integration with library services. Also, I will discuss a data warehouse we built in partnership with LogiXML (the developers of LogiInfo) to speed-up and support new reports and Web services.
