Training and supervising apprentice students, our responsibility also involves designing re-designing and improving alternating training schemes. Being involved in this reflective thought process for many years this has led us to the position of apprentice researcher. Throughout these years, we have had the opportunity to observe the effects of the different systems implemented and then a question has arisen : 'lrom the set framework of these training schemes, what alternating system have they themselves developed and how do they feel about il ? Our aim is to try to understand and model what learners experience from the inside, what personal alternating system and strategies they develop and what difficulties they meet. ln other words we are trying to understand the interactions between the learner and the situation in which he has been placed because of the training scheme.
