Análise de danos em geomembranas por meio de ensaios de laboratório em diferentes escalas

TL;DRAbstract

Considering the increasing demand for minerals due to the economic growth in some countries in recent years, larger areas for the waste tailings disposal are needed. In this context, tailing dams has become increasingly used of geotechnical engineering as disposal of this waste system. Due to the nature of the materials of this kind of construction, the construction of the drainage layers and/or waterproofing are required on the base, aiming to avoid the flow of gases and liquids. Tailings dams can reach high values of height and this can produce high values of pressure on the base, causing some damage on the geomembrane and affecting its sealing function. This research aims to study the occurrence of mechanical damage due to the application of values of pressure in a system consisting of material granular/geomembrane, through laboratory testing of mechanical compression damage. For this purpose, two equipment (small scale and medium scale), were used in order to study the mechanical d
