TL;DRAbstract

The focus of this report is on a technology that is tremendously flexible and that can provide energy efficiently in remote areas. Photovoltaics are also a potential source of inexpensive electricity for residential use. Solar cells represent one of many renewable energy resources and technologies that must be developed if the United States is to reduce its dependence on scarce and expensive fossil fuels.
