Estudo sobre a adequação hoteleira para atender o segmento da terceira idade

TL;DRAbstract

The recent rise in the population of elderly has accounted for a shift in the tourism industry.This work consists in assessing hotel suitability for aged tourists and in raising awareness of the specific needs of such travelers.The methodology comprises bibliographic and exploratory researches.Specifically, questionnaires were conducted with hotel managers, a physiotherapist and a nutritionist.Also a sample of 70 elderly people in the city of Brasilia was interviewed.Data was then compiled using the software SPSS.The guests considered here are those aged more than 60 years.We present an illustrative case with the hospitality sector of Caldas Novas in which we analyze, through interviews with hotel managers, safety, leisure and nutrition conditions offered to aged guests.We conclude that hotels are not fully adapted to such conditions.Based on such results, changes are proposed in order to target specific features of the aged guest.
