TL;DRAbstract

This paper relates to the lead letters and ostraka discovered in the Black Sea area. According to our evidence, we have observed that almost of all these objects are situated on both peripheries of the Greek world, namely in the hinterland of Massalia and in the Euxine Pontus. Most of them have Ionian dialectal features, as well as a typical onomastics for this Milesian milieu. All these items concern commercial matter and illustrate a high degree of literacy in the Pontic cities.
