TL;DRAbstract
This chapter describes a selection of the methods used for analysing bioassay data. The statistical methods are described in a general form and can be used specifically to analyse bioassays involving microbial control agents, such as entomopathogens used for pest (including plant pests) control. An example is given of the use of probit analysis, applied to artificial concentration-mortality data. The evaluation of the relative efficacy of a new material in terms of a standard is considered. Some practical guidelines for conducting bioassays are provided. A brief discussion of bioassays is given, which yield continuous response data. Methods for analysing bioassays are described, which produce time-mortality, and the analysis of those based on time-concentration-mortality data is addressed.
