A CLASS STRUGGLE REFLECTED IN SIR WALTER SCOTT’S IVANHOE: A MARXIST PERSPECTIVE
TL;DRAbstract
The object of this research is the novel entitled Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott. The major problem of this study is how the class struggle is reflected in the novel Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott based on Marxist perspective. The researcher employs qualitative method. In this method, the researcher uses two data sources, namely primary and secondary data sources. The primary data source is the novel itself. The secondary data sources are the books about Marxism, some books about sociology and the other sources related to the analysis. The method of data collection is library research and the technique of data collection is descriptive technique. Based on the analysis, the result of this study describes that the class struggle is illustrated through the actions of the characters in order to survive in conquered nation.
