TL;DRAbstract
Objective To explore the mechanisms and effects of medicated thread moxibustion of Zhuang medicine on somatostatin (SS) and β-endorphin (β-EP) in pituitary, hypothalamus, stomach and intestines in the rat of experimental spleen deficiency. Methods Eighty rats of spleen deficiency were established by exhaustion and irregular diet and then divided into four groups randomly: model group, moxibustion group, herb group and normal group. The contents of SS and β-EP in above-mentioned tissues were determined by radioimmunoassay (RIA) and their changes were studied before and after treatment. Results The SS levels in pituitary, blood, stomach and intestines in the rats of spleen deficiency were higher than those in the normal rats (P<0.01); while the SS levels of hypothalamus in the rats of spleen deficiency were lower than those in the normal rats (P<0.01). The β-EP levels of stomach, intestines in the rats of spleen deficiency were higher than those of the normal rats (P<0.01); while the β-E
