Despite recent declines in the expectations for information and communications technologies, advances in mobile and wireless technologies continue, particularly at the organizational level. The use of these technologies and the services they deliver will be shaped by a variety of factors, both technical and managerial. In addition to recent advances in access technologies, advances in organizational and mobile computing technologies will shape the nature of mobile commerce services. The acceptance of these services will be determined by the relative advantages they present as well as their ability to match the skills and needs of users. Small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and individuals (or employees) embody unique combinations of skills and needs. Skills that enable these users to take advantage of mobile commerce services are shaped primarily by previous experience with the Internet, e-commerce and mobile telephony.
