Progress Toward Understanding Human Performance in Medicine
TL;DRAbstract
This study consists of three parts that, together, complement each other to further our understanding of the process and significance of failures in High-dose-rate brachytherapy (HDRB)--where a single, very high intensity radioactive source attached to a computer-driven cable passes through hollow needles inserted into cancers. These are analysis of misadministrations, development of process trees, and assessment of treatment accuracy. Through evaluating the misadministration events and the models used in the analysis, this study hopes to both further the understanding of human performance in medical settings and hone the tools for such analyses.
