TL;DRAbstract

Cogeneration systems are becoming more and more important thanks to their enhanced efficiency and the possibility of exploiting distributed cogeneration technologies for small-scale applications. There are several techniques to perform cogeneration plant evaluation, from an energy saving, environmental and economic standpoint. In this paper, an approach based on incremental indicators, for both electrical and thermal production, is presented and exemplified with numerical applications, focusing in particular on the most widespread cogenerative prime movers on a small-scale basis, namely, microturbines and internal combustion engines.
