Processing and properties of silver-tin oxide-indium oxide electrical contact materials

-1991-04-01-Metal Powder Report
9

TL;DRAbstract

The dependence of the physical properties of contact materials on processing mode and microstructure is evaluated for the silver-tin oxide system. This system is a possible substitute for silver-cadmium oxide. Silver-tin oxide-indium oxide alloys of composition Ag-7.6 w\o SnO2-4.81 w\o In2O3 were prepared by casting and internal oxidation, and by a powder processing route involving rapid solidification, internal oxidation, sintering and repressing. Density, hardness and electrical conductivity data are presented and interpreted in terms of alloy microstructure.
